Wristcare

What is WristCare?

WristCare is a 3rd generation Telecare device which has 2 distinct functions (Alarms & Health Monitoring).

Social Alarm (Manual & Automatic Alarms) - A range of reactive alarms that are triggered once a situation has occurred, to alert care staff that help is needed.

WristCare is a social alarm like any other, in the sense that it has a button centrally positioned on the pendant, which the user can manually press to trigger an alarm for help. Where it comes into it's own is its built in intelligence which enables a number of automatic alarms to be generated (without the user pressing the button). For example, a "wandering" automatic alarm can be activated which alerts staff if the user leaves the home and goes out-of-range (approx. 30 metres radius of the base unit). In this sense, WristCare is more advanced than the standard pendant alarms and offers multi-functionality.

Health Monitoring - Proactive/Preventative care that is undertaken to try and prevent situations occurring in the first place, by regularly monitoring the users wellness.

WristCare is more than just a device with alarms; it also provides wellness data which reflects the users level of activity 24 hours per day. A clinical professional, appointed by NRS, is responsible for analysing this data, which can be used to predict certain situations occurring and facilitate the appropriate intervention.

Data is collected for every minute the device is worn, and is significant when being used to monitor sleep patterns for example. If the user is suddenly sleeping much less than normal, the data will reflect this, which in turn means the appropriate staff can intervene and try and understand why this is happening. Without this information, it might not become apparent that the user isn't sleeping well, until it starts having a detrimental effect on their health.

Is WristCare waterproof?

WristCare is splash proof but not waterproof. We would liken this terminology to any normal wrist watch.

In reality, this means that the user would need to remove the device before bathing or washing the dishes for example.

Note that if submerged in water any warranty could be invalidated.

How often do the batteries need changing?

Typically the battery in the WristCare device (which is a standard hearing aid type) would need changing about every 6 months (dependant upon intensity of usage). The cost of a replacement battery is approx £2.

Can NRS provide a response service?
